IBO Player: how to install it and add your playlist

Updated 2 min read

IBO Player is an IPTV player that runs on Samsung and LG smart TVs as well as Android and Fire TV devices. You install it, note the MAC address and device key it shows, then add your playlist on the IBO Player website. It's free to try for a few days, then needs a paid activation.

IBO Player is a common choice on Samsung and LG smart TVs, where TiviMate isn’t available and app choice is limited. It works a little differently from most players: instead of typing your login on the TV, you add your playlist through the IBO Player website, linked to your TV by its MAC address.

Install IBO Player

  • Samsung TV (Tizen): open Apps, search for IBO Player and install it.
  • LG TV (webOS): open the LG Content Store, search for IBO Player and install it.
  • Android TV, Google TV and phones: install it from Google Play where it’s listed.
  • Firestick: if it isn’t in the Appstore in your country, install it with Downloader as shown in our Firestick guide.

See our Samsung TV guide for the other players available on Tizen. App availability varies by TV model year and country. On older TVs it may simply not be listed, in which case a Firestick or an Android TV box is the easiest workaround.

Add your playlist

  1. Open the app and note your device details

Launch IBO Player. The first screen shows a MAC address and a device key. Write both down or take a photo with your phone: you need them in the next step.

  2. Go to the IBO Player website

On your phone or computer, open the official IBO Player website and choose the option to manage your playlists or devices. Log in with the MAC address and device key from your TV.

  3. Add your playlist

Add a new playlist and give it a name. Paste your M3U link, or choose the Xtream Codes option and enter the server address, username and password we sent you. Save.

  4. Reload on the TV

Back on the TV, restart IBO Player or use its reload option. Your playlist appears and the channels and TV guide load.

Common problems and fixes

“Playlist failed to load.” Check the link or login for typos, and make sure you added the playlist to the right MAC address. If you have two TVs, each has its own MAC address and device key.

Playlist changes don’t show up. Close the app completely and open it again, or use the reload option in its settings.

The trial has ended. The app asks for activation. Pay only on the official IBO Player website, never through a third party.

Channels buffer. Smart TV Wi-Fi is often weak. If your TV has an Ethernet port, use a cable.

Quick answers

Is IBO Player free?
It offers a free trial period after installation. To keep using it, you pay the developer for an activation tied to your device. Check the current price on the official IBO Player website before the trial ends.
Is IBO Player the same as IBO Player Pro?
No. They are different apps from different developers, each with its own website and activation. Make sure you add your playlist on the site that matches the app on your TV.
Does IBO Player include channels?
No. It's only a player. You need a subscription, and you add the playlist or login details your provider gives you.
