New to IPTV? The basics in plain English: how it works, playlists and logins. 3 guides
-
M3U playlist: how to add one to any IPTV app An M3U playlist is a text file, usually reached through a web link, that lists every channel of your subscription with its stream address. To use it, open your IPTV app, choose the M3U or playlist option, paste the full link and let the app load the channels. Add an EPG link if the TV guide stays empty.
-
Xtream Codes vs M3U: which login should you use? Xtream Codes is a login made of a server address, a username and a password; M3U is a single link to a channel list. Both give access to the same subscription, but Xtream Codes usually loads the TV guide, catch-up and on-demand categories automatically, so it's the better choice whenever your app supports it.

TiviMate setup guide: add your playlist step by step TiviMate is a TV-style IPTV player for Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV devices. To set it up, install the app, choose Add playlist, enter your Xtream Codes login or M3U link, and let it load your channels and TV guide. The whole setup takes about five minutes.
-
IPTV Smarters Pro setup guide for every device IPTV Smarters Pro is a free IPTV player app. Install it on your device, choose Login with Xtream Codes API, then enter a name, your username, password and server URL. The app doesn't include any channels: it plays the subscription you sign in with.
-
IBO Player: how to install it and add your playlist IBO Player is an IPTV player that runs on Samsung and LG smart TVs as well as Android and Fire TV devices. You install it, note the MAC address and device key it shows, then add your playlist on the IBO Player website. It's free to try for a few days, then needs a paid activation.
-
IPTV player apps: the best one for each device The best IPTV player depends on your device. TiviMate is the top choice on Android TV and Firestick, IPTV Smarters Pro works on almost everything, and IBO Player or Smart IPTV are the usual picks on Samsung and LG TVs. All of them are players only: the channels come from your subscription.
Fix a problem
Something not working? Quick checks, in the order that solves most problems. 3 guides
-
IPTV buffering: how to stop freezing and lag IPTV buffering happens when video arrives more slowly than it plays. The usual cause is the connection between your router and your TV device, not the service. A wired connection or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, a larger buffer in the player app and a restart fix most cases.
-
IPTV EPG not loading? How to fix the TV guide The EPG is the electronic programme guide: the grid of what's on now and next. When it's empty, the app either hasn't downloaded it yet, doesn't have the guide link (common with M3U playlists), or is matching the wrong channels. Updating the guide, adding the EPG link and fixing the time shift solve most cases.

Is IPTV legal?
Honest answers about the law in the US, the UK and Canada. 3 guides
-
Canada Is IPTV legal in Canada? The law explained simply IPTV is legal in Canada: some of the country's largest TV providers deliver their service this way. Services that stream channels without the rights are not. Canadian courts order internet providers to block pirate services, and viewers can receive copyright notices through their provider, although legal action has mostly targeted sellers.
-
UK Is IPTV legal in the UK? What the law says IPTV as a technology is legal in the UK, and several major TV providers deliver their channels that way. What's illegal is selling or using a service that streams channels without the rights. Sellers have been jailed, and viewers of shut-down services have received warning letters citing the Fraud Act.
-
US Is IPTV legal? What US viewers need to know IPTV itself is legal in the United States: many mainstream live TV streaming services work this way. What makes a service illegal is streaming channels without the rights to them. Running an unlicensed streaming service for profit can be a federal felony, and viewers of such services take on legal and security risks of their own.
